Not Meeting the Acceptable Standard of Health (ASH) for a New Zealand Visa?

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) requires all visa applicants to meet the Acceptable Standard of Health (ASH). If your application has triggered health concerns — such as a chronic condition, high-cost treatment, or a specialist referral - you could be told you don’t meet ASH, especially during residence visa processing. This doesn’t automatically mean your visa will be declined.

You may still qualify for a Medical Waiver, which allows INZ to approve your visa despite the health concerns — but only if your response is prepared correctly.
