Transit Visa Applications Moving Online
Starting 12 August 2024, customers can apply for Transit Visas online. This new process simplifies applications, allowing real-time progress tracking and eliminating the need for paper applications and Visa Application Centre fees. However, Chinese national applicants for Group Transit Visas must still use paper applications for now. An online solution for group visa categories is forthcoming. Fiji Added to Transit Visa Waiver List From 4 September 2024, Fijian nationals transiting through Auckland International Airport can request an NZeTA instead of a Transit Visa. The NZeTA costs $17 via mobile app or $23 on the Immigration New Zealand website, is valid for two years, and can be used for multiple journeys. Processing takes at least 72 hours. Approved Transit Visas remain valid until expiry. Fijian nationals wishing to visit, study, or work in New Zealand must still apply for the appropriate visa. Those travelling through Wellington or Christchurch on Fiji Airways will need a visitor visa due to the lack of transit facilities at these airports. Source: INZ website
