Overcoming a Deportation Liability Notice: A Journey to Stay in New Zealand

A client’s path to New Zealand residency was jeopardized due to a serious mistake made several years ago, resulting in the decline of his permanent residency application and the issuance of a deportation liability notice (DLN). Despite this setback, the client refused to give up on his dream of living in New Zealand and sought help from our firm.

The Challenge

​The client’s situation was complex, as his past actions had raised concerns about his character, a crucial factor in New Zealand's immigration process. The DLN was a significant barrier, and the client faced the possibility of being deported. In addition to submitting the request, Simon responded to the DLN, articulating a strong case for why the client deserved to stay in New Zealand. The submission to Immigration New Zealand (INZ) was thorough and persuasive, addressing every concern raised by the initial decline of the residency application.

The Outcome

After several months of anxious waiting, the client received the news he had been hoping for. Thanks to Simon’s diligent efforts, INZ granted a suspension of the DLN, allowing the client to remain in New Zealand. With this major hurdle overcome, the client is now focused on securing his resident visa and continuing his journey in New Zealand.
