What is happening with the Talent & LTSSL Work to Resident Visa?
Our CEO had a zoom session with the Minister of Immigration (check the link). During the meeting, the Minister and Immigration New Zealand have confirmed the closure of the Accredited Employer (Talent) and Long-Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL) Work to Residence visas effective 1 November 2021.
We clarified the implications of this closure with Immigration New Zealand and it has confirmed the following:
"Migrants who have a Work to Residence visa (or apply for a Work to Residence visa by 31 October 2021) can still apply for residence after 31 October 2021 under the Residence from Work instructions. Their residence pathway will not be affected by their current employer not renewing their accreditation or the closure of the Work to Residence visa category to new applications.
If migrants have a Residence from Work visa application underway (requiring a further Work to Residence visa to be granted residence and remain lawful in New Zealand while their residence application is in process), they will be able to continue this process if they remain with their employer and applying for a further Work to Residence visa despite the closure of the category to new applications."
