For stays exceeding 92 days within a 12-month period, remote workers should be mindful of potential tax implications. Two major updates for accredited employers and labour hire firms kick in on 27 January 2025. Here’s what’s changing:
Employment Modules No Longer Required Employers and key hiring personnel will no longer need to complete Employment New Zealand’s learning modules, which are being discontinued. Recognised Seasonal Employers (RSEs) are also included in this change. Immigration New Zealand will continue educating migrant workers about their employment rights. Lower Domestic Workforce Threshold for Construction Labour Hire Construction labour hire firms’ requirement to employ New Zealand citizens or residents will drop from 35% to 15% for hiring under the AEWV.
