Changes have been made to immigration instructions to:
Clarify the median wage requirement for border exceptions remains $27 per hour
Remove references to the Essential Skills work visa category in the border exception instructions, and
Remove the final date of entry from the General Practice Veterinarian approved class of worker border exception.
These changes came into effect on 18 July 2022.
Changes have also been made to immigration instructions to:
Remove criteria related to the maritime border that is no longer relevant due to changes to the maritime border order
Clarify that to be eligible to be invited to apply for a visa as a border exception, Expressions of Interest for most border exceptions must be submitted on or before 31 July 2022
Clarify that Expressions of Interest can continue to be made after 31 July 2022 for the following approved class of workers: Deepwater fishing crew, Agricultural mobile plant operators, Assistant Dairy Farm Manager or 2IC managerial roles, Dairy Herd Manager, Dairy Farm Assistants, General practice veterinarians, Agricultural and horticultural mobile plant machinery operators, Deep-sea fishing crew, Wool handler, Shearer, Winery workers, Meat processing worker, Seafood processing worker, Silviculture forestry worker, and Wood processors and manufacturers, and
Revoke COVID-19 Support Restricted Temporary Entry instructions related to nationally significant travel and Expressions of Interest, Temporary Entry and Residence instructions that are specific to COVID-19 border entry restrictions, and Residence instructions that are specific to COVID-19 border settings, which no longer apply.
These changes are effective from 11:59pm on 31 July 2022
