When it comes to residency visas, people who have criminal records often face an uphill battle. This is because INZ takes a dim view of applicants with any kind of criminal history. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. One such exception is if INZ has granted the applicant a character waiver. In other words, if INZ has decided that the applicant is of good character despite their criminal history. If granted a character waiver, one should have no trouble applying for a residence visa.
