A client approached us after her previous immigration adviser declined to continue working on her case. Facing a determined case officer ready to deny her resident visa application, she turned to Simon, our CEO, for help.
With the officer set to finalise his decision and pass it to a technical adviser, Simon stepped in. He requested the officer's assessment notes and an extension to thoroughly review the case. Despite submitting a compelling, logical argument, the officer denied the application. Simon identified errors in the decision and recommended appealing to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal (IPT), ensuring the appeal was filed within the 42-day deadline. He meticulously prepared the case, which was submitted on time. After nearly six months, the IPT judges found the officer's decision flawed and referred the application back to Immigration New Zealand for reassessment by a different officer. Remarkably, this success was achieved entirely through clear and effective communication, without a single in-person meeting. This case demonstrates the value of expertise and persistence in navigating complex immigration challenges.

In August 2018, a client approached us after their parents' resident visa application was declined. Despite being told by multiple reputable lawyers that there was no hope, we took on the challenge.
We successfully appealed the decision to the Immigration Protection Tribunal (IPT), which accepted our appeal and referred the case back to Immigration New Zealand (INZ) for reassessment. The original application, lodged in 2016 before the closure of the Parent Category Resident Visa, was declined in July 2018. Our IPT appeal, filed in late August 2018, resulted in a favourable decision in February 2019. Finally, the resident visa was approved in May 2019, securing a positive outcome for the family. A client approached us after her previous immigration adviser declined to continue handling her case. Her resident visa application was on the verge of being declined when Simon, our CEO, stepped in.
The case officer had nearly finalised the decision before forwarding it to a technical adviser. Simon promptly requested the officer’s assessment notes and secured an extension to review the case. Despite submitting a compelling letter with a strong argument, the application was declined. Simon identified flaws in the decision and recommended a Resident Visa Appeal to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal (IPT), which had to be filed within 42 days. He meticulously prepared the appeal, which was submitted on time. After nearly six months, the Tribunal ruled that the original decision was flawed. The case was sent back to Immigration New Zealand for reassessment by a different officer. This success highlights that clear and effective communication can deliver exceptional results, even without face-to-face interaction. |
