This client contacted us from China, where he was living at the time with his partner. He found out about our firm through Google search and booked a 15-minute online consultation with Simon, our CEO.

After the Zoom meeting, Simon learned about the client’s situation. He is an NZ citizen currently staying in China with his Chinese national partner, who recently gave birth to their son. He wanted to apply for his partner’s work visa so they could stay together as a family with his children and newborn son in New Zealand.

It was imperative to get an urgent visa approval because the newborn’s Chinese Visa is expiring soon, and if they wanted to renew it, they would have to leave China and reapply.

The client immediately signed the letter of engagement as soon as Simon sent it. They were under a lot of time pressure also because of the fact that the newborn son did not have any access to the healthcare system in China due to being a New Zealand citizen.

Simon quickly got to work on the application with the help of the client and was able to submit the same without any issues. He also wrote a letter requesting that the application be processed urgently because of their situation.

INZ responded quickly, and only a week after writing the letter to INZ, the Partnership-based Work Visa got approved. The client was ecstatic with the result as his whole family can now stay together in NZ.

Note: When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, many businesses were forced to reevaluate the way they operated. For us, this meant shifting to a completely remote working model.
