Afghan Emergency Resettlement Visa
This new residence category will allow recent evacuees from Afghanistan the opportunity to stay in New Zealand permanently. Resettlement Case Officers have been assigned to evacuees. Holders of the Afghan Emergency Resettlement Visa will be able to access housing support, funded health services, education and other Government services. Three groups of evacuees are eligible for the Afghan Emergency Resettlement Visa:
Only Afghan citizens who were in Afghanistan on 15 August 2021 can apply. Applicants must be in New Zealand and submit their application before 12 December 2022. There is no fee. We expect applications to be processed within a month, on average.
