Simon, Our CEO, had a Zoom session with Kris, the Minister of Immigration, this morning with other people in the industry.
The Minister will make an official announcement in the early or middle of October regarding SMC policy and how EOIs on the pool would be managed. We made a point about those SMC applications that include 18 or 19 years old children who can not attend a tertiary institution or work. The Minister understands the difficulty and will consider it when INZ prioritises which cases to be processed faster. Work to Resident Visa category will phase out on 31 October 2021 as planned. Still, those on Talent Work Visa who are yet to apply for their resident visa applications would be considered to pursue their pathway to residency. The new "Accredited Employer Work Visa" will replace exiting 6 different work visas and will be implemented in June 2022 as planned. The government announced earlier how to reopen the NZ border next year and to take the scaffolding approach. The early steps of this plan could be delayed due to the Delta variant of Covid, but the plan would still be implemented. When the Minister makes his official announcement, we will summarise his announcement and post it here. Summary of the meeting

I have applied my work to residence application last year in October. My son next year has to go for tertiary education. What do you think about my application.

Work to resident visa category is phasing out but we got the confirmation that resident visa applications (Residence from Work Visa) will be processed. Your application seem like being quite delayed. Perhaps you may consider engaging with Simon to fast process yours. Please try www.immigrationtrust.co.nz/free to be considered for a free assessment.

Unfortunately the category is on hold and it is at the bottom of INZ's todo list.

This is good news, but honestly it is hard to believe in the minister's words... Have you recorded the meeting? Could you post it somewhere? Thanks!

A question similar to the one I wanted to ask was already asked and commented...so ,I will ask : what about the EOIs that were submitted by the parents that are onshore? Any signs of prioritisation maybe? As per the answer of my question on the fyi site , there are ONLY 652 EOIs submitted by parents that are currently in NZ ,and those EOIs cover 960 first and second applicants... We are still alive ,although everybody forgets about our existence...and we ,who are here ,are the fortunate ones- we are very aware of that - regarding the pandemic. But I am certain that that small number of EOIs wouldn't be a big problem... just to open and see who is eligible- we don' t ask to be given TIA for everyone...Any hope ,please?

Dear Ana. Based on our conversation with the Minister and senior staff from INZ, I felt that "Parent resident Visa" would not be their priority on their to-do list. If we find anything, we will post it here. I am sorry that we can not give you good news at this stage.
