Successful Partner Visa Case 48

10/12/2024

A few years ago, a Brazilian woman married to an NZ resident sought our help after her partner's visa application faced complications. Her licensed immigration adviser struggled to address multiple PPI requests from Immigration New Zealand (INZ) and suggested she find someone more experienced. By the time we stepped in, her resident visa application was on the verge of being declined due to character concerns.

The couple discovered us through a Google search and scheduled a consultation with Simon, our CEO. Simon quickly assessed the situation and proposed a Residence Visa Appeal to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal (IPT), which successfully flagged the case for reassessment.

During the process, the client faced additional challenges: contracting COVID-19, missing her visa's expiry date, and becoming unlawful. Simon's expertise ensured a seamless strategy, including applying under Section 61, addressing multiple PPIs, and presenting a strong character waiver backed by solid evidence.

Despite setbacks, the partnership-based resident visa was ultimately granted after two and a half years of persistence. This complex case highlighted the importance of tailored solutions for character issues, IPT appeals, and navigating unlawful status to achieve a successful outcome.
