This client booked a paid consultation with Simon, our CEO out of frustration.

He submitted his Residence from Work Resident Visa application in the middle of last year then when INZ introduced the 2021 Resident visa, he called INZ to get some advice. Following the advice, he withdrew his Residence from Work Resident Visa application and applied for 2021 resident visa in March. As soon as his Work to Residence Work Visa expired, INZ issued him the 2021 interim visa.

During the conversation with the INZ Call centre, he expressed the urgency of his application as he wanted to see his grandmother in the UK who is dying. He already booked and paid for the flight at the end of August 2022.

However, because he followed the suggestion from the INZ call centre, his 2021 resident visa was submitted in March which would take longer than the December batch in 2021, which he should have applied to get his visa to be processed faster.

His work visa expired and he got the interim visa, which means that as soon as he leaves NZ, his interim visa will be expired. He felt he did not know what to do. He has been calling INZ multiple times and waiting for hours but did not get what he wanted.

Note: The client and Simon never once met in person and did all communications through our advanced IT system. It was due to the restrictions on travelling and meetings because of Covid-19. However, when the restrictions got lifted, our firm decided to adapt the no face to face meeting policy with all our transactions, after we found out it was more practical and efficient.
