Navigating visa applications can be daunting, especially when life takes unexpected turns. Our expertise recently helped a client from South Africa secure a positive outcome in a complex case. Originally preparing to apply for a Supplementary Seasonal Employment (SSE) work visa, she was awaiting police clearance from her home country when her plans shifted dramatically. She fell in love with a New Zealand partner and discovered she was pregnant, creating unforeseen challenges.
The change in her circumstances delayed her application process, rendering her status unlawful. With her pregnancy and the need for stability adding urgency, she and her partner sought our assistance with a Section 61 application. Section 61 of the Immigration Act 2009 allows the Minister of Immigration to grant a visa to individuals unlawfully in New Zealand. To address her situation, we conducted a detailed consultation to fully understand her unique circumstances. We prepared comprehensive documentation, including a strong explanation of her unlawful status, and provided personalised support throughout the process, ensuring she and her partner were well-informed and confident every step of the way. The result was a success. Her Section 61 application was approved, allowing her to remain lawfully in New Zealand with her partner and their soon-to-be-born child. We are now preparing her Partnership-based work visa application, enabling her to work and build a future with her family in New Zealand. This story highlights our commitment to delivering tailored solutions, even in the most challenging situations.
