Proving a relationship can be challenging, especially when living apart, and even more so if your partner is in a country where same-sex marriage is prohibited.
One client sought advice through our Paid Consultation Service with Simon, our CEO, after facing multiple declined visa applications. Despite living together, they lacked evidence to prove their relationship, as they had to conceal it from the partner's family and friends. Following Simon’s recommendation, the client pursued a Ministerial Intervention. Submitted earlier this year, the application succeeded after nearly six months, securing her partner a six-month visitor visa to join her in New Zealand. A client came to us after Immigration New Zealand (INZ) declined his Partnership-Based Work Visa due to character issues. He became unlawful and received a deportation order. Though his Deportation Appeal to the Immigration Protection Tribunal (IPT) was successful, granting him a 12-month open work visa, INZ declined his subsequent Partnership-Based Work Visa, leaving him unlawful again. A Section 61 request was also refused.
With significant character issues complicating his case, he engaged our firm to resolve his challenging situation. Simon worked meticulously for months, preparing a Ministerial Intervention, submitted in October last year. Today, the intervention was successful. His character issues have been permanently waived, and he has been granted a six-month work visa. Facing a Section 61 refusal from Immigration New Zealand (INZ), our client was on the verge of receiving a Deportation Order. Recognising the urgency of her situation, she reached out to us.
Under the leadership of Simon, our CEO, we took swift and strategic action. Simon directly liaised with the INZ compliance team to arrange a voluntary departure, avoiding the serious repercussions of a formal deportation. Simultaneously, he prepared a compelling Ministerial Intervention application. The application was approved while the client was overseas, securing a permanent character waiver. This critical outcome now enables her to apply for a visa and reunite with her husband in New Zealand. If you're facing complex immigration challenges, including Section 61 refusals or deportation risks, contact us today to explore your options. Through our paid consultation service, Immigration Trust assisted a client whose Section 61 requests had been repeatedly declined by Immigration New Zealand (INZ).
