Businesses in New Zealand are encouraged to train, upskill and hire New Zealand workers before they hire migrants.

If you are an employer and you cannot find suitable New Zealanders for a role, you can apply to hire migrants on the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
This client contacted us for her Accreditation at the end of last year. She wanted to get her business accredited and start hiring migrants. She arranged an online meeting with Simon, our CEO, and they agreed to engage. Upon signing our letter of engagement, Simon worked to submit her company’s Accreditation Application to INZ.

After a couple of weeks, the application got approved. Her company got accredited and can now support Job Check and Work Visa applications.

Once a company is accredited, INZ asks to advertise and get a Job Check to ensure that there are no suitable New Zealanders who could be hired and trained before the company offers the role to someone from overseas. This aims to support local employment opportunities, and ensure employers are offering attractive wages to New Zealanders before they look to recruit migrants.

After the client engaged for the Job Check, Simon started working on this phase. He worked with the client to provide job ads and CV’s as required by INZ. Upon submission of all the requirements, the Job Check was approved.
