What was the immigration concern?

After being sent to live with his grandparents in Tonga following the passing of his father, the applicant's mother and siblings moved to New Zealand. Due to distance and miscommunication, he was not included in his family’s resident visa application.

When he finally joined them in NZ on a visitor visa, they tried to apply for residency as a dependent child. Unfortunately, this application was declined, leaving him with no other option but to stay in the country as a visitor while trying to extend his visa. Note: The client and Simon never once met in person and conducted all communications through our advanced IT system. It was due to the restrictions on travelling and meetings because of Covid-19.
