This client has an existing application for a 2021 Resident Visa. When his current visa expired, he was given the 2021 interim visa for his family to stay in New Zealand lawfully while waiting for the result of a new visa application. Usually, when you have an interim visa, you cannot leave NZ as this visa expires when you leave the country.

This client thought he would miss his brother’s wedding in Fiji because he was on Interim Visa. Still, he got very fortunate that INZ recently started allowing 2021 Interim Visa holders to travel upon request.

We advised him to apply for a Work visa so that he can travel to his home country with his wife and child and attend his brother’s wedding and then return to New Zealand on the same visa. Thankfully, their visas got approved.
